While most Nova Scotian sailors are settling in for Christmas, 6 are preparing for the Sydney - Hobart Race aboard Triple Lindy. Sailing are L-R Sean McDermott, Rory MacDonald, Sandy MacMillan, John MacKay, Rob Trainor, & Will MacKay. (usual crew member Patrick LaRoche is at home with family).
They are sailing on Triple Lindy a Cookson 50. Follow the boat throughout the race on Twitter @3lindyoffshore and at triple-lindy.com
Here is what the crew was up to today
This is the 14th day of practice for some of the crew. We head out tonight for an overnight 24 hour practice. The boat, an all-carbon Cookson 50 footer is a real machine. We hit 21 knots in a 25 knot gust, very cool. The race starts near 13:00 on Boxing Day, or Christmas evening in Nova Scotia near 21:00. It is live-streamed to more than a million viewers online. There are over 2,500 spectator boats which makes for a bit of a zoo. Cheers and Merry Xmas - Sean
