Cuts in St. Peters Canal Hours Affects Boaters

In early 2013 Parks Canada announced significant reductions in the operating hours of the St. Peter's Canal, a very important link for boaters to access the Bras d'Or Lake.

Despite various marketing campaigns and events which encouraged boaters to sail on Bras d'Or Lake, the cuts went ahead significantly disrupting access.

The Wallace MacAskill Yacht Club in St. Peters, an NSYA member, is leading the campaign to have the decision reversed.

At the Commodores meeting last Saturday they presented and Clubs agreed to support the campaign by contacting the Federal Minister of the Environment whose department oversees Park Canada.

If you would like to lend your support, please contact Gordon Kerr for more information and details.
