Sail Nova Scotia is excited to announce the members of the Canada Games Sailing Team that will represent the province at the Canada Games at the end of July in Gimli Manitoba.
Leading the team will be veteran Canada Games athlete Siobhan MacDonald from Mabou who sails in the paralympic 2.4mR class. These are Siobhan's secong Games. In 2013 she finished in 4th position.
In the Laser Class Spencer Dalzell from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron will sail while Lauren Sullivan also from RNSYS will compete in the Laser Radial Class. These are the second Canada Games for Lauren who previously represented the province at the Winter Games in Synchronized swimming.
The 29er class which is a double-handed class (ie two person boat) will see two teams competing. In the female division Sophie Carter from the Waegwoltic Club and Emily Roy from RNSYS will team up while in the male division Cameron Shaw from RNSYS and Justin Timmins from Bedford Basin Yacht Club will race for Nova Scotia.
While the Games are centered ariound Winnipeg the sailing competition will be held in Gimli on Lake Winnipeg. Racing takes place from July 30 - August 4.
The team is coached by 2 time Olympian Lisa Ross from Lunenburg and Team Manager is Max Flinn from Chester.
Driving the boats to the Games are Chris Shaw and Mark Surrette.
