4 Nova Scotians Win National Sailing Awards

3 athletes and a coach will be recognized at the Rolex Sail Canada National Awards to be held Saturday, January 19 at a ceremony in Toronto.
 
Allison Surrette and Ali ten Hove both from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron are the recipients of the Female Youth Sailors of the year for their outstanding 2012 season in the 420 class. The duo set three Canadian records at three large US Regattas and also captured the Youth Nationals sailing championship.
 
Their coach Agustin Ferrario, also representing the RNSYS, will be recognized as Sail Canada Coach of the Year.
 
And from Chester, 470 Class sailor Jacob Chaplin-Saunders will be awarded the Nathan Cowan Memorial Award for Developing sailors. This award goes to the sailor with an outstanding achievement in national and international events, brought recognition to Canadian competitive sailing and has demonstrated an effort through sponsorship and fundraising.
